Windows 8 Tablets could cost a fortune, make iPads look cheap
How much would you pay for a tablet running Windows 8? $500 for a 16GB version? Well, this is the price of the 16GB of iPad 2 model, $500, and it seems that Windows 8 tablets could cost nearly twice that amount. In this case, you’d better not even buy them.
Compare prices a little more: the Amazon Kindle Fire costs $200 and is selling like hotcakes. Also for $900 you can buy a ultrabook, and I guarantee that a physical keyboard is much better than digital.
But, what should be the high price they might have these tablets? Well it seems that the main reason is that they will use Intel Atom Clover Trail, the new generation of Intel processors. If the price gets too high, Microsoft probably will have to use ARM processor, Nvidia and Texas Instrument.
Today, to adequately compete against companies like Apple devices, you have to overcome in price, quality and features. The Kindle Fire, for example, managed many sales due to its low price, but the iPad tablet is still the No. 1 market and will remain so for a long time. via
