Asus Eee phone rumors – The Taiwanese company ASUSTek prepare affordable cellphones to complement its popular Eee brand, according to what was reported the New York Times this weekend.

Rumors of an Eee Phone run under android, the operating system for cell phones Google circulating for some time, but this time, the CEO of ASUSTek Jonney Shih himself has confirmed to New York Times on the sidelines of the Consumer Electronic Show (CES) in Las Vegas that his company would launch a cellular phone affordable in the coming months.

The operating system Eee Phone has not been announced, but the Google system is open and free, its use would be sensible for an affordable phone, as do ASUSTek wishes.

According Jonney Shih, the company believes that soon, televisions become computer screens (the company has also introduced at CES a prototype computer built into a keyboard that uses wireless as an HD monitor), and that all the surfaces of a house mirrors for example, might serve as monitors.

And in such a house, believes that the ASUSTek Eee Phone could be used as a kind of universal remote control.

According to previous reports, the Eee Phone could be launched as early as the first half of 2009.
